You Won’t Believe Our Amazing Warranties

There are lots of things about Morris County Appliance Repair that put us a few steps ahead of the competition. One of them is our generous warranty package.

We’ve been in the appliance repair business for over 50 years, so we know how valuable it is to do our work with integrity and to treat our customers with genuine kindness and respect. That’s why we stand behind all of our appliance repair services with a 1-year parts warranty and a 90-day labor warranty!

For more details on our lavish warranty package, keep reading.

1-Year Parts Warranty

Our extensive parts warranty is what truly sets us apart from other appliance repair companies in Morris County. Most other technicians offer 90 days’ worth of coverage for their parts, as that’s the industry standard provided by the majority of manufacturers. However, we guarantee them for an entire year because we believe that strongly in the quality of our parts!

This warranty means that when we use a replacement part during your appliance repair service, it will be covered for one full year from the day of service. If the part is defective or breaks during that time, we will come back and replace it at no extra cost.

90-Day Labor Warranty

We also provide an industry-standard 90-day warranty on labor because we are extremely confident in our high-caliber workmanship. This labor warranty protects you from liability if your appliance exhibits problematic behavior caused by our service, or if we didn’t correctly diagnose or fix the original issue and it reoccurs. That’s 90 days of worry-free protection!

Ready to work with an appliance repair technician who actually guarantees satisfactory service? Then call Morris County Appliance Repair today!

Washing Machines: Front Loader vs. Top Loader?

When you’re planning to invest in a new washing machine, it’s understandable that you want to do plenty of research. Washing machines aren’t cheap, and it’s a purchase that you’ll be stuck with for a long time. You don’t want to regret your choice.

For a lot of homeowners, the first step is deciding between a top-loading and front-loading washer. Once you figure out which type of model is best for your needs, the overall decision gets much easier.

So, without further ado, let’s take a look at how top-loaders and front-loaders compare!

User-Friendliness

  • Top-loader: You can fill and empty it while standing upright.
  • Front-loader: You have to crouch down and hunch over (unless you install it on a special pedestal). This could be bad for people with back problems or limited stability.

Cleaning Quality

  • Top-loader: Most models with the conventional agitator are rough on clothing. The agitator is essential, though, because otherwise the laundry would just be idly soaking in soapy water.
  • Front-loader: These models use gravity to naturally agitate laundry without beating it up. They are also better at extracting water because they can reach higher spin speeds.

Efficiency

  • Top-loader: These require more water and energy to operate.
  • Front-loader: These are designed to require significantly less water and energy to operate, thanks to the way they leverage the power of gravity.

Installation

  • Top-loader: These models can only be positioned side-by-side with dryers, since the top of the unit needs to remain accessible.
  • Front-loader: These models offer more flexibility with installation, as they can be stacked underneath dryers or placed next to them.

Maintenance

  • Top-loader: These units are very low maintenance because there’s nowhere for water and moisture to get trapped.
  • Front-loader: They’re prone to mold and mildew buildup inside the rubber door gasket. Therefore, they require more attention and regular cleaning.

Price

  • Top-loader: Unless you opt for a high-efficiency model with an impeller instead of an agitator, top-loaders generally have a lower price tag.
  • Front-loader: Due to their efficient design and more powerful cleaning capabilities, front-loaders are typically more expensive.

Each type of washing machine has its advantages and disadvantages, but on the whole, we believe front-loading washers are superior. If you can afford the price tag up front, you should seriously consider a front-loader.

Superior Customer Service in Morris County!

Let’s be honest. When you’re searching for an appliance repair technician in Morris County, you care more about their speediness and customer service than you do about their technical abilities.

After all, there are only so many ways a technician can fix a leaking dishwasher or a fridge that isn’t cooling. Sure, some technicians are better than others at correctly diagnosing the problem on the first pass—but when it boils down to a successfully completed repair, it’s a pretty straightforward process with little variation.

On the other hand, appliance repair companies vary wildly in their approaches to customer care and responsiveness. While some companies are seemingly impossible to get a hold of or are unable to work around your schedule, others—like Morris County Appliance Repair—are committed to being much more accommodating.

For example, our team is extremely prompt when it comes to responding to customer calls and emails. We even set up same-day service appointments whenever we can! That’s because we know the majority of appliance repair requests are time sensitive, and you need to get your household back on track ASAP.

We also stand behind our professional workmanship with a 90-day labor warranty and a 1-year parts warranty. We want you to be covered in case anything goes wrong. This is far above and beyond what other appliance repair specialists in Morris County offer!

It’s plain to see how our dedication to customer satisfaction makes a huge difference in the quality of your experience with us. So, keep us in mind the next time you need someone to look at your oven, washing machine, or freezer!

Game-Changing Dryer Hacks for You to Try This Week!

Does anyone really like doing laundry? Maybe there’s a handful of folks out there who love to spend their time sorting dirty clothes, waiting for them to wash and dry, ironing them, folding them, and putting them away. But for the rest of us? Yeah, laundry could be a lot more fun.

So, as an early Christmas present from Morris County Appliance Repair, here are some clothes dryer hacks to try next time you’re doing a load. They’ll make laundry less of a chore. You’re welcome!

Little-Known Dryer Tricks to Make Laundry Easier

  • Tin foil balls: Ball up a few sheets of tin foil and put them in the dryer with your clothes during the winter. They will reduce static cling!
  • Tennis balls: When you’re drying pillows, blankets, puffy coats, and similar items, add a few tennis balls to your dryer and run the load as usual. The tennis balls will fluff your items as they dry.
  • Dry towel: To speed up the drying process for wet clothes, put an already dry bath towel in there with them. It will absorb moisture and reduce the overall drying time.
  • Ice cube: Need to de-wrinkle a shirt or pair of pants, but hate ironing? Toss the clothing item(s) into the dryer, along with an ice cube and dryer sheet, for 10 minutes. The ice cube will produce steam to release wrinkles, while the dryer sheet freshens up the scent.
  • Pool noodle: Wedge a pool noodle or foam pipe insulation into the gap between your dryer and the wall. This way, small, loose items (like socks) won’t fall into the gap and get lost forever.

And there you have it! Let us know which of these you’ve tried.

How to Make Your Stainless Steel Appliances Shine

Stainless steel is by far the most popular finish for appliances in New Jersey households. Why? Because it’s sleek, shiny, and neutral, meaning it matches virtually any interior design you might have. Stainless steel appliances give every kitchen an elevated, modern look, no matter what other furnishings surround them. However, these aesthetic advantages diminish when the stainless steel starts to get dull and worn.

Thankfully, if your stainless steel appliances have lost their luster, there’s a way to bring it back! And Morris County Appliance Repair is here to help you do so. Keep reading!

Three Steps to Make Your Stainless Steel Appliances Look Brand New

Follow these three easy steps to get your stainless steel appliances shining like new again!

  1. Dampen a cotton cloth with vinegar and wipe down your appliances. If your appliances have a brushed steel finish, wipe in the direction of the “grain” (which will most likely be up and down).
  2. Dry off your appliances by wiping with a fresh cotton cloth.
  3. Dip the dry cloth into olive oil. Use it to polish the stainless steel, once again following the direction of the grain.

And that’s it! Once you’re finished, your appliances will be sparkling as if they were fresh out of the package.

Try This Weird Trick for a Better Seal on Your Fridge!

One component of refrigerators and freezers that’s often overlooked is the door gasket–a.k.a. that rubber, accordion-like seal around the perimeter of the door. By forming an airtight seal between the unit and the door, it plays a vital role in keeping cold air inside.

However, when your door gasket starts to show signs of aging, it can get stiff, deteriorate, or dry out, which prevents it from forming that crucial airtight seal. As a result, your fridge or freezer will struggle to maintain a cold enough temperature, putting the safety of your food in jeopardy.

Thankfully, though, there’s a super-easy trick to fix your door gasket’s poor seal–and you probably have the supplies right in your cabinet!

Here’s what you need:

  • Sponge
  • Dish soap
  • Warm water
  • Clean rag or paper towel
  • Petroleum jelly (e.g. Vaseline)

And here’s what you do:

  • Clean the gasket with warm, soapy water.
  • Rinse and wipe the surface and crevices until completely dry.
  • Gently apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to all visible surfaces of the gasket.

This might sound like a bizarre fix, but we promise it works! See, the petroleum jelly clings to the dried-out gasket so when the door is closed, the jelly fills in the tiny air pockets between the gasket and the unit’s frame, thus creating an airtight seal.

However, be advised that this is usually only good as a temporary fix. If your refrigerator is getting up there in years, you will probably need to replace the gasket in full. But this petroleum jelly trick will definitely hold you over until you’re able to get a replacement.

Hope this helps!

Should You Get a Freezer on Top or on Bottom?

Buying a new fridge, but can’t decide if you should get one with the freezer on top or on the bottom? This is a common conundrum among homeowners. One is more efficient and budget-friendly; the other is more convenient and stylish.

Which do you choose?!

In this blog post, we’ll highlight the pros and cons of both options. This will help inform your decision. However, it’s ultimately up to you to choose based on your lifestyle, budgetary constraints, and design preferences.

So, with all that being said, let’s take a look at top freezers and bottom freezers!

Freezer on Top

Pros:

  • Budget-friendly: For whatever reason, the design and construction of top-freezer models makes these refrigerators at least a few hundred dollars cheaper than their counterparts.
  • Energy-efficient: Refrigerators with top-freezers use between 10% and 25% less energy than bottom-freezers, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
  • More functional space: In this type of fridge, the freezer doesn’t require as much insulation near the vents or special drawers for organization, so it has more space that can actually be used for storage.

Con:

  • Not the most hip: This doesn’t mean the freezer-on-top style is unattractive! It’s just a more traditional look, so you won’t get the “wow” factor that you would with a more chic model.

Freezer on Bottom

Pros:

  • Better organization: Bottom-freezer units usually come with fun baskets and drawers that help make the storage space as functional as possible.
  • Convenient: The freezer’s placement on the bottom means the refrigerator portion is front and center. With it being eye-level, you can see everything inside your fridge without having to scrunch down.

Cons:

  • Expensive: As is always the rule, the latest and hippest styles cost more. With a freezer-on-bottom fridge, you’re going to pay at least hundreds of dollars more, if not thousands (for the ultra-elite packages).

Again, it all comes down to your priorities and preferences. If you prefer a budget-friendly option with a conventional look, then the freezer-on-top style is a smart choice for you. However, if you’re willing to pay extra for a sleek, stylish model that gives you a little more convenience, then you should go with the freezer-on-bottom style.

Gas Range Not Igniting? Try These Tips!

Every serious home chef loves their gas range.

However, the one downside of a gas range is that a spark is needed to ignite the burners before you can start cooking. Therefore, when there’s an issue with the burner or spark tips, you suddenly lose the ability to cook on that burner.

Thankfully, if you’re having problems with your gas range not igniting or sparking, there may be a fix that you can implement yourself.

Possible Solutions for a Gas Stove That Won’t Spark

  • Clear away grease and food debris — This is one of the most common causes of igniter issues because buildup of any kind can block the flow of gas to the igniter. Here’s what to do:
    1. Remove the grate and burner cap to access the sealed burner base.
    2. Lift off the sealed burner base (which may involve unscrewing it).
    3. Clean the base area with a soapy sponge or rag while you soak the sealed burner base in warm water or vinegar.
    4. After soaking, scrub debris and gunk off the sealed burner base with a stiff brush.
    5. Clear out the burner holes with something small and pointy (e.g. toothpick, pipe cleaner, needle, etc.)
    6. Dry off all components thoroughly and put them back.
  • Fix loose wiring — There are small, electrical connections between the igniter and control module (which enables the control knob to spark the igniter and control the flame). These connections sometimes come loose during cleaning, moving, or installation and prevent the burner from igniting. Here’s what to do:
    1. Unplug your unit from the wall or turn off the power.
    2. Remove the grate, burner cap, and sealed burner base.
    3. Look for any wires that seem loosely connected or disconnected entirely.
    4. Reconnect any loose wires and return the sealed burner base, burner cap, and grate.

If neither of the above solutions works, then you’re looking at a faulty igniter that needs to be replaced. You can do this yourself—if you’re confident you can do it safely. But remember: you’re dealing with a gas line. For the average homeowner, this might be a bridge too far.

Thankfully, you have the expert technicians at Morris County Appliance Repair here to help you! Give us a call for a speedy, successful gas range repair today.

Jammed Trash Compactor? Here’s How to Fix It

As the proud owner of a trash compactor, you already appreciate all of the fantastic benefits that come with one: It literally shrinks the volume of your garbage, thus reducing how many trash bags you need to use, how often you need to bring the trash outside, and how much you’re contributing to landfills.

On the other hand, however, you’re also acutely aware of the one major downside of owning a trash compactor: It is prone to frequent jams.

So, you might as well learn some tricks on how to deal with a jammed trash compactor, right? This way, you won’t have to call a technician every time it happens.

That’s why we’ve put together this short, quick guide on how to fix a jammed trash compactor. Here’s what you do:

  • Hit the switch or pedal. Sometimes, the metal ram inside the compactor just needs a sudden jolt to get unstuck. Try flicking the on/off switch (or pressing down on the foot pedal) a few times in rapid succession. This could give the metal rod the jolt it needs.
  • Check the power connection. Because trash compactors exert so much force during operation, they sometimes loosen up the power cord or wire connections. Check that the unit’s fully plugged into a power source, and then check the access panel to make sure all of the wires are correctly connected.
  • Look for loose items inside the unit. If your trash compactor bin was too full or loaded improperly, the metal ram might have knocked some items out of the bin. Remove the bin and look for any such items.

If your machine still isn’t working after performing these adjustments, call Morris County Appliance Repair. We’re one of the few appliance technicians in Morris County who are able and willing to work on trash compactors!
